On today’s episode of The viewthe ABC talk show welcomed a new guest: Daily Blast Live Host Lindsey Granger, who debated with hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin as they further examined critical race theory, as part of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation from the Supreme Court.
To get things started, the panel discussed how some congressional Republicans used the hearings as an opportunity, in Goldberg’s view, to “bitch”. Marsha Blackburn called into question Brown’s ‘hidden agenda’ for “expanding government reach in our schools” and “private family decisions”, while Josh Hawley went as far as Brown accused, softly Being sex offenders and child pornographers.
Granger began by saying that Americans do not “actually breathe” Hawley’s “false” opinions. However, they are made argue that Marsha Blackburn has a point in asking Brown – who lives on a school board – where she stands on critical race theory.
“Critical race theory as it stands … needs to be reduced for 7-year-olds,” Granger said.
The hostess immediately withdrew, responding: “It is not taught to 7-year-olds … We want to teach children about African American history.”
Granger agreed on the last point. “I have a 6 month old daughter, she needs to understand Black excellence,” she said. “She needs to see more of it.”
Goldberg later cited a New York Times Op-ed argues that in order to effectively challenge the GOP, Democrats need to upgrade their platform and focus on education as the only key to success.
Granger found the op-ed spot-on in line with the Democratic messaging strategy, saying it should instead focus on getting kids back to school.
“Which is more important, your health or your education?” Joy Behar interjected.
“I would say they are equally important,” Granger replied. “How can you get far without education?”
She went on to refer to the alleged effects of children wearing masks in schools, going so far as to argue that the actions of Democrats were directly responsible for keeping children out of school.
“I’m sorry, no. That’s not true,” Goldberg replied. “What kept them out of school was Omicron and COVID. That kept people out of school. That kept us from going to work!
“This is not a federal issue. It was up to the states to decide,” Granger protested, before Goldberg exclaimed, “Yes, and you saw what happened!”
The panel eventually found common ground, agreeing that the topic was not enough history books, not a lack of parenting in schools.
“We’re learning about all this wrong stuff, and we need to see a revision of textbooks,” Granger said.
Goldberg agreed, adding: “Parents always had the right to find out what was involved in their students’ lives … the parents have now decided that they are interested, and now they want to participate.”
