UFC world heavyweights Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal were reportedly involved in a quarrel outside a Miami Beach restaurant late Monday night.
Masvidal was charged on Monday with a felony battery in connection with the quarrel, according to a Miami Beach police report obtained by ESPN. The other person involved, who lost teeth, was not identified after claiming the right under Marsy’s Law, Miami Beach police told the network.
The two MMA fighters are no strangers to each other, with Covington recording a hilarious unanimous decision over Masvidal on March 5 at UFC 272 in Las Vegas.
Covington, 34, and Masvidal, 37, renewed acquaintances outside of Papi Steak on Monday at about 11:30 p.m.
TMZ posted a video of Masvidal shouting, “Don’t talk about my kids,” while preventing him from getting any closer to Covington.
Covington is also heard in the video saying, “He’s here and there, swinging, trying to get at me, and I’m going out from behind the room.” Covington then turned to social media star and podcast host Bob Menery and asked, “How would he even know I’m here?”
Earlier on Monday, Menery shared a video to his Instagram story that showed Covington and the group’s location, Papi Steak. Menery called Covington “the king of motherfucking Miami” and wrote, “@papisteak is that spotttttttt.”
Masvidal then took to Twitter and added his own message while marking Covington.
“This is called the show-your-face challenge, you know? Um, what’s up? I’m from Dade County,” Masvidal said. “You talk that shit, you have to support it. That’s how my city rolls, man.
Menery later tweeted the following: “Never had a problem with (Masvidal). Extremely disappointed with the way he decided to handle his running” beef “, which has already been decided in a regulated platform. @Ufc. “
