Sonny Bill Williams vs. Barry Hall, Danny Green Analysis, Preview

Former world champion Danny Green says Naysayers and skeptics have an eye on their face when AFL big Barry Hall starts his stuff in the ring tonight.

“He’s 45 years old and moves like a f — ing flyweight,” the Green Wide World of Sports said before Hall’s Turf War Heavyweight Clash with Sonny Bill Williams.

“He moves like a young man. He really is a phenomenal athlete. It is very impressive.”

Green is now Hall’s promoter so he’s barely underestimating his husband.

But Hall, a former Victorian Junior Amateur Champion, has already proven his boxing skills in the controversial 2019 draw with Paul Gallen.

Many experienced observers believe that Hall should have won that battle, including Green.

“I’ve seen Barry many times, so I’m aware of what he’s capable of doing,” he said.

“His ability to be a big dude … when he concentrates and puts his life in the box before football, anything is possible for the man. Do not worry about age, the man has the ability to burn I watched him last night and he’s a f — ing boxer, he’s not a football player.

“This guy is a boxer now.”

Hall weighed slim and weighed 97.8 kg, giving more than 11 kg to Williams (109.1 kg).

He is also nine years older than Williams but Green said he is the complete package.

“Everyone knows he’s a tall, strong boxer, straight shot. He hooks well, he claps nicely, right hand, he f —- an oppercuts well. He has a good bag with tricks.”

Green said Williams was also unusually qualified for such a great man, who was a football player for most of his career.

He did not think either of them would dance around and frustrate the punters over eight three minute rounds.

“They will meet in the middle. There are no two ways about it, they will meet and it is who comes in first and gets the best shot and who can impose their will.

“Whoever can apply their will early will be the winner.”
