Apple Music in the App Store is suffering from a failure

Some of Apple’s services suffered another setback on Tuesday, just a day after a good chunk of Apple’s services and online infrastructure were shut down offline on Monday. Apple’s system status page states that the issues with Apple Music, Podcasts, Books and the App Store have been resolved almost two hours after they started affecting some users.

Fortunately, iMessage, iCloud, Apple Maps and Apple TV did not go down as they did on Monday. During the outbreak, Apple also warned that there were issues with Weather, Game Center, Apple Card, and the iCloud Web apps, saying they were “slow or unavailable.” These problems are also now marked as resolved.

During the crash, Apple Music worked for some Verge Staff but not for others, and quite a few of us have had trouble downloading apps or updates from the App Store. Normally, the progress circle would just spin continuously and then return to a download or update button after it failed. Now some Verge staff report that Apple Music is back up and running for them, and I was able to download about 30 app updates without any issues.

Downdetector has supported our experience, showing nearly a thousand other people reporting issues with the Apple Store and Apple Music. Around 5.30pm ET, however, the number of people reporting problems dropped dramatically.

Updated: 22/03/2020 19:02 ET: Updated to reflect that Apple has marked the issues as resolved.
