Draymond reveals whether Steph or Klay called him more originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
It’s no secret that Draymond Green is one of the more outspoken leaders on the Warriors.
His teammates know it, Dub Nation knows it and pretty much the entire NBA has known it since he landed in the league in 2012.
But what about the other leaders of the team? Did Steph Curry and Klay Thompson yell at Draymond as he yelled at them?
“Nah, Steph does not call much,” Green told NBC Sports Bay Area’s color analyst Kelenna Azubuike. “He’s yelled at me before, but you really have to upset Steph so he’s calling back. He’s very tactical and not very loud about it, and ‘I will do it this way and I will do it this way,’ does.
No surprise there.
But Steph’s lack of jealousy towards his teammates makes him no less a competitor and certainly makes him no less a leader.
As far as the other Splash Bro, however, this is a slightly different story.
“Yes, Klay [Thompson] will be upset, “said Green.” Most of the time it’s likely, “Klay hold on to those stupid shots, why would you take that shot? ‘Dray, they pay me to shoot the ball, do it.’ The thing is, Klay does not say much, so when he calls back, you should probably close because he is probably upset.
“And if you’re a leader, you need to know your guys, you need to know who’s leading you. he’s barely talking. I’m excited he just yelled back. He’s good, he’s good. He needs nothing else from me at this point. He’s calling? it’s just very important that you understand who you are dealing with.
It does not happen often, but we have seen Klay visibly and verbally frustrated at court.
Just the last game, an angry Klay threw his iconic headband into the crowd at the Chase Center and the Warriors 110-108 loss against the San Antonio Spurs. It’s just Klay.

And those who have watched the superstar trio over the last decade already know this and usually know what to expect from them.
“We have the advantage of being together for 10 years,” Green said. “Coach Kerr, eight of those years, we just understand each other. We understand what ticks each other, we understand when it’s time to leave that guy alone and leave him alone. That’s just part of growing up.”
