Chesterfield suffered a blow in their National League title hopes after being beaten 1-0 by Altrincham.
Matty Kosylo’s goal was the difference as the Spirits fell 10 points behind the leaders of League Stockport while the Robins remain 15th in the table.
Joe Quigley had a chance to take the lead on Chesterfield’s dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled away as his shot went just over the bar after 20 minutes.
The Robbins fired three minutes after the break as Kosylo fired past Scott Loach to put his side in the lead.
Jamie Grimes came close to leveling the score, but his header was blocked by the Altrincham defensive line.
Laurence Maguire also had a chance for the visitors, but his header flew over the bar and Kosylo almost doubled just minutes later with a good chance from the area.
