Motsi Mabuse has revealed that her Ukrainian husband moved into her family home after the Russian invasion.

The Strictly Judge, 40, was one of the first celebrities to raise concerns about the deteriorating situation in Ukraine, which escalated in late February.

She shared with fans how her husband Evgenij Voznyuk’s parents were stranded in Ukraine after flights were stopped in other parts of the country.

At the time, she wrote: ‘It’s heartbreaking to hear my mother-in-law crying in the morning, scared and we can do absolutely nothing. Just sad honestly.

‘Our parents have been [told] to go outside and turn off water & gas! They have no possibility to cross the Polish border. ‘

She had previously commented: ‘This can not happen !!!!!!!!!!!’ and asked for ‘Prayers for Ukraine and the World’.

Fortunately, Motsi confirmed that her sisters were safe while they showed up on Wednesday morning to chat about their future appearance at the celebrity edition of Great British Bake Off.

Host Holly Willoughby remarked: ‘Your husband’s parents were inside [Ukraine]in a basement house … was bombed next door. ‘

Motsi replied: ‘The house is gone, they are living with us now, probably forever.

‘It affects us to see all these images.’

She went on to reveal how affected she personally was by the ongoing conflict: “If it affected my husband so much, I did not think it would affect me so much.

“Within a day we were on social media … people are tired of us eating pizza and sushi and such content.

“I sensitized with candles, sold candles and donated … we collected food, my husband went to the border and picked up and took out some people.”

She expressed her deep feelings about the war, adding: ‘It breaks my heart … I can literally cry. People will do anything.

‘We look from the outside and you think, how can I help?’

Agreeing with her comments, Holly concluded, “I’m glad your in-laws are with you and safe.”

Motsi has been married to Evgenij, 38, since 2017.

She has kept her marriage largely unveiled, but occasionally shares snapshots of Evgenij on social media.

This morning is weekdays from 10 a.m. on ITV.
