The LBC host grilled Angela Rayner as “terrible” a general election for the Labor Party next year would be. He asked, “There could be parliamentary elections next year, wouldn’t that be terrible for the Labor Party? You’re not ready for that, are you?”
Ms Rayner retorted: “No, I’m ready. I think the country is ready.
“Boris Johnson lied to the people, laughed at the people and he ran around with Russian oligarchs and then said there was a problem and we had to fix it.
“There was a lot of time to fix it. The Russian report, nothing was done about it.
“I think the British public is starting to see what Boris Johnson’s measure is and they are starting to see that the Labor Party has changed.

“We are not the party we were in 2019, me and Keir took over the leadership of the Labor Party and we changed and we showed this change.
“I think we are quite a government in the making and I think the British public is starting to see it.”
It comes as a Scottish Labor Council candidate withdrew after comments he made on social media came to light, including one that the SNP accused of imposing a “Catholic monarchy” on Scotland.
Vanessa Shand should run for the party in the Perth & Kinross council elections in May.
“The Scottish Labor Party will act on evidence that every candidate has met these standards.
“That person is no longer a Labor candidate.”
Ms Shand was asked by the Daily Record about her earlier comments on social media.
In a tweet about Rebecca Long-Bailey, she told the newspaper: “Yes, I did, and it probably was not one of my great moments in life.”
