Corrie: Emma talks to newcomer Jon Spear in January
Coronation Street’s Emma Brooker kept her budding romance a secret on the soap, knowing that best friend Faye Windass would not agree.
But the truth will unfold next week in dramatic scenes on ITV soap, as Faye (Ellie Leach) and his friend Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) learn more about their secret, Jon Spear (Jordan Ford Silver) , the grandson of retired Ted.
Ted died after being murdered by Emma (Alexandra Mardell) and Faye, although the couple initially thought he was fine, they later discovered he had died in his apartment.
Emma and Faye desperately tried to keep the secret under wraps because Faye was determined to get her life back on track after she was released from prison.
But Emma found romance in an unlikely place and her relationship with Jon went from strength to strength, unknown to best friend Faye.
But ITV spoilers have revealed that Emma has not done enough to stop the mystery from coming out, as when ex-boyfriend Craig asks Emma to walk the dog Peanut, she asks Jon to come with her.
But when the couple goes for a walk, Beth (Lisa George) bumps into them and a startled Emma is forced to introduce Jon, but claims he is an old school friend.
Beth then later mentions the run-in to Craig and he immediately suspects that Emma sees Jon.
Craig decides to confront Emma, but she is unstable in her embarrassments, but Craig remains suspicious.
When Emma sees Jon, and he finds out the truth about what happened to his grandfather, the consequences for Emma and Faye are enormous – not to mention for Craig, who is hopeful of a future Return to the police.
But Emma ignores the driving danger and enjoys spending more time with Jon, lies with Faye and Craig and says she sees an old school friend.
Craig gave up his police constable position in an offer to protect Faye and Emma from all the effects of what happened to Ted.
But he is unhappy and resentful towards Faye over the decision, and so finally decides to make a move out of the Underworld factory and return to do what he enjoys.
Craig is understandably afraid that Emma’s connection with Jon’s return to power could be jeopardized.
Meanwhile, Jon has some important news for Emma that could change everything. After inheriting a huge amount of money from Ted, he plans to use the stock market injection to fund a movement in Australia to start a new life, which could be a great relief for Craig and Faye.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8pm on ITV.
