The countdown is well and truly open to the event “Climb Errigal Together” to support the Climb with Charlie campaign by broadcaster Charlie Bird.
A large crowd will visit Errigal Mountain in Donegal on Saturday, April 2nd.
The climbers are raising funds for the Irish Motor Neurone Association and Pieta House as part of the campaign initiated by former RTE journalist, Charlie Bird. Mr Bird was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in October 2021 and the local event started at Gweedore’s An Chúirt Hotel in February.
Donegal County Councilor Ciaran Brogan, who is one of the main members of “Climb Errigal Together”, says plans are working well together.
Donegal GAA Pundit, Brendan Devenney, Donegal singer, Daniel O’Donnell and Donegal County Councilor Ciaran Brogan are promoting the “Climb Errigal Together” event which takes place on Saturday, April 2nd, during their trip to London this weekend.
“It’s just over a week to go and we’re very happy with the preparations so far. We have great help from Gardaí, the civil defense, local bus operators, local sports clubs and the Dunlewey Center. So from a logistical point of view we are on a good place “, he adds.
“Registration continues at a steady rate. There has been a glorious response to this event since it was first mentioned in January by the people of Donegal and the North West. We used our recent trip to London to promote climbing and a number of London-based Donegal residents are coming home to take part in the challenge. We would like to remind individuals and groups who are planning to join to sign up through the website – www.climberrigaltogether.com.
Donegal International Rally Clerk Eamon McGee has been appointed Lead Coordinator of the event.
