EasyJet to cut more flights over summer holidays

EasyJet has announced plans to suspend more flights during the important summer period.

EasyJet had previously expected to operate around 97% of pre-Covid flights between July and September, but that is now being scaled back to 90%.

It follows announcements from Gatwick and Amsterdam Schiphol airports that they will cap flights and passenger numbers this summer.

EasyJet said there will also be cancellations from other airports in the airline’s network.

The exact number of cancellations is still being worked out. EasyJet said customers would be notified in advance and could rebook on alternative flights, and many could rebook on the same day they originally intended to travel.

The company said it was taking the step to build additional resilience in the face of operational issues such as ground handling and airport staffing shortages and air traffic control delays.
