(CNN)Angelina Jolie drew parallels between refugees in Yemen and victims of the war in Ukraine.
The star, who has worked closely with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for years, shared where she traveled in a video on her verified Instagram account over the weekend.
“I landed in Aden to meet displaced families and refugees for UNHCR @refugees and to show my support for the people of Yemen,” reads the caption. “I’ll do my best to communicate from the ground over the days.”
“As we continue to monitor the horrors in Ukraine and call for an immediate end to the conflict and humanitarian access, I am here in Yemen to support people who also desperately need peace,” she continued.
“The situation here is one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world, with one civilian killed or injured every hour in 2022,” wrote Jolie, who served as UNHCR’s special envoy. “A war-torn economy and over 20 million Yeminis dependent on humanitarian aid to survive.”
In 2020, Jolie donated an undisclosed amount of money to two British youths who frolicked around a lemonade stand to raise money for those affected by the Yemen crisis.
