Boris Johnson has said Europe needs to get rid of its dependence on Russian hydrocarbons.
At a press conference with the Dutch and Canadian prime ministers, he said he would present an “energy supply strategy” for the UK in the coming days.
Mr Johnson said there must be a need to ensure there is a “backup supply” and there will be greater use of nuclear power and a “much greater use” of renewable energy.
