Shell has pledged to stop buying oil from Russia as it apologized for buying cheap Russian crude over the weekend.
The energy giant also said it would close all of its gas stations in the country and halt all ongoing work in the country.
Shell was heavily criticized over the weekend after it bought a shipment of Russian crude at a reduced price.
Shell boss Ben van Beurden said it was wrong to buy Russian oil.
“We are aware that our decision to buy a shipment of Russian crude last week was not the right one and we are sorry,” said Mr. Ben van Beurden.
