War in Ukraine: Labour calls for UK emergency visa centres for Ukrainians

The government has defended its record in taking in refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine after it was revealed that only 300 family visas have been issued so far.

Around 9,000 applications have already been made, and hundreds of refugees are stuck in Calais. There are also reports of problems at a key processing center in Poland.

Speaking in the House of Commons, Labour’s shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper called on the government to create more UK emergency visa centres.
