The number of visas issued to Ukrainian refugees “will increase every day,” Immigration Secretary Kevin Foster told MPs.
But he claimed some people who turned up in Calais to get to the UK “pretended” to be Ukrainians when he drew comparisons to Russians who went to Salisbury Cathedral claiming to be tourists.
He was responding to a pressing question from Labour’s Yvette Cooper calling for more emergency visa centers and questioning the location and lack of available interview slots in Belgium, Poland and France.
