Aid on energy bills has been extended to all households, but at a less generous level, meaning millions are still facing higher bills.
The bill for a typical household will increase from now £2,500 to £3,000 in April, announced Chancellor Jeremy Hunt.
Without that help, the average bill would have risen to around £3,740, according to analyst estimates.
Mr Hunt also announced additional living expenses for the most vulnerable.
These were £900 for households on means-tested benefits, £300 for pensioner households and £150 for those on disability pensions.
