Government ministers are expected to agree to lift all of England’s remaining international travel restrictions.
Currently anyone traveling to the UK is required to fill out a passenger locator form prior to arrival.
Travelers who are not fully vaccinated must take a Covid test before departure, fill out the form and book and pay for a PCR test upon arrival.
The date when these requirements end has not yet been confirmed.
It is not yet clear whether the other British nations will follow suit, although they have done so on previous occasions when travel restrictions have been eased.
People planning a trip abroad still need to find out about the entry requirements of other countries.
Testing requirements for fully vaccinated travelers entering the UK were dropped in February.
The latest move is welcomed by the travel industry, which has been lobbying for the remaining rules to be lifted to allow businesses to take full advantage of strong summer holiday demand.
However, other headwinds are emerging as Covid restrictions ease.
The price of jet fuel has skyrocketed due to higher crude oil prices. This increases cost pressures on airlines, although some have been protected by their hedging strategies by buying fuel in advance at lower prices.
On Friday, Heathrow Airport chief executive John Holland-Kaye said the aviation recovery had remained “overshadowed by war and Covid uncertainty”.
Businesses will also be watching closely if war in Ukraine and rising household bills squeezing disposable income will shake consumer confidence in booking.
Air France-KLM and Ryanair both recently warned that airfares will rise.
