The BP chief saw his salary more than doubled to £10million last year after the oil giant reported record profits amid rising energy prices.
Bernard Looney’s salaries and bonuses compare to £4.46m last year.
This week, Looney’s former rival Ben van Beurden, ex-Shell boss, also reported a huge pay rise, rising by more than 50% to £9.7million.
Both energy companies rose as oil and gas prices soared following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
BP and other energy giants have been criticized for the size of their profits, while high energy prices have helped drive up the cost of living.
In late 2021, Mr Looney said high oil and gas prices had turned his company into a “money machine”.
