The discounter Lidl has won a trademark dispute against the largest British supermarket chain Tesco.
The Supreme Court ruled that Tesco’s clubcard logo copied Lidl’s logo, both of which use a yellow circle on a square blue background.
Lidl said Tesco had violated its copyright law and allowed Tesco to take “an unfair advantage” from Lidl’s “reputation for great value”.
Tesco said it was “disappointed” with the ruling and intends to appeal.
