The conflict in Ukraine is a far cry from Britain, but it means the prices of ingredients for one of the nation’s most popular dishes are skyrocketing.
The cost of white fish, potatoes, peas and the energy used to prepare them have all skyrocketed.
One chip shop says it’s seen “hundreds” of stores that couldn’t handle price increases.
Unless something is done to help, “many of your local fish and chip shops will disappear,” says Richard Ord of Colmans Fish and Chips.
The BBC’s business editor, Simon Jack, wanted to find out how companies were dealing with it.
