Treasury bonds continued to rise in March on the cost of helping households with their energy bills.
Borrowing, the difference between spending and tax receipts, was £21.5 billion last month, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.
That’s the second highest borrowing in March since monthly records began in 1993.
The ONS said an increase in tax revenue was offset by higher spending on energy support for households and businesses.
