FromSoftware has just released a title update for Elden Ring, and if you’ve been playing the game or even just watching Speedruns, the patch notes will probably make you feel emotional. Elden Ring Patch 1.03 is a massive patch, featuring Nerfs, Buffs, Questline fixes, new NPC Summons, and much more.
It’s hard to know where to start because the changes are many, but it looks like some Elden ring quests that are commonly considered broken have been fixed. New “quest phases” have been added for NPCs Diallos, Nepheli Loux, Kenneth Haight, and Gatekeeper Gostoc. Nepheli Quest in particular, has confused many players.
There is a new NPC in the form of Jar-Bairn, although it is not noticed where you can find them (I just watched, and they are in Jarsburg, as you would expect). The map in the Elden Ring now has a new type of icon that can show the name of the NPCs, all the better to mark their places. There are also more summonable NPCs and “multiple situations”, while Mimic’s Veil can now mimic a whole host of new objects.
There are some alarming changes. Mimic Tear Ash, who is a go-to-ashes call for people who do not want to play fair with the bosses, has taken down his damage and changed his behavior pattern. Also, the hoarfrost stomp Ash of War – especially used in Distortion2’s Elden Ring Speedruns – has reduced its damage and increased casting time.
Nevertheless, Buffs dominate the change list. Wizards will be pleased with the decreased FP consumption on a range of spells including Loretta’s Greatbow and Carian Greatsword, and the trusty Great Glintstone Shard now has higher range and is faster.
Anyway, here are the full patch notes:
