Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have patch 1.03 for Elden Ringand it’s a biggie.
Headline changes include map tracking for characters you’ve encountered, new questlines, a new NPC, and a whole host of balance adjustments – including what appears to be a nuisance to the almighty Mimic Tear Ash – and bugfixes.
You can now pick up an icon in the name of each NPC you encounter on the map as soon as you encounter it, which should help keep track of your adventure. The new NPC is called Jar-Bairn. Elden Ring Wiki has some notes on this character already, if you will not forget the spoiler.
There are new questlines for the characters Diallos, Nepheli Loux, Kenneth Haight, and Gatekeeper Gostoc as well.
Vague as ever, FromSoftware also notes that it “added some summonable NPCs in different situations.”
The most notable among the bugfixes are the ones that address it Elden RingThere are widely reported problems with state scaling on some weapons. Performance improvements are claimed but not detailed; hopefully they will improve things for PC games.
On the balance side, the Smithing Stones were made easier to get by with increased drop rates and availability at early game stores. Shields, some spells, and offensive cracking pot elements were all buffed, while it nerfs the mind summoned with Mimic Tear Ash and to speedrunners favorite skill, Ash of War, Hoarfrost the Stomp.
The update applies to all platforms and of course you have to apply it before playing online.
