Nearly 4 million bottles of Airborne Gummies sold nationwide are being removed so the lid can fly off and injure people when first opened.
The recall involves about 3.7 million units of fruit-flavored supplements sold in bottles, according to a notice from the manufacturer, Reckitt, released Wednesday by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Pressure can build up inside the bottles, causing the seal to come off with considerable force.
Reckitt has received 70 complaints about the cap or seal coming out of the bottles, including 18 reports of minor injuries and a report of an eye injury that required medical attention.
Consumers are asked not to open the bottles and return them for a refund. Bottles already opened are not part of the product removal, as they would have released any build-up of pressure and therefore no longer pose a danger.
The products were sold by retailers such as Amazon, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Costco, CVS, Kroger, Sam’s Club, Walmart and www.schiffvitamins from May 2020 to February 2022 for between $ 18 and $ 33.

The withdrawal includes bottles of jelly beans of 63 and 75 counts that are sold in cranberry pomegranate, orange and assorted fruit flavors, and are thought to help maintain the immune system. (See here for a list of withdrawn products listed by UPC and batch codes, as well as expiration dates.)
