Flyers’ Claude Giroux plays in the 1,000. Games

Philadelphia Flyers striker Claude Giroux has in his 1,000. Playing Thursday against the Nashville Predators, the second Flyers player will, along with franchise icon Bobby Clarke, reach the mark with the team. Giroux was drafted in the first round by Philadelphia in 2006 and has been the team captain since 2013.

Giroux finished second on Thursday in Flyers points (900), assists (609) and eighth in goals (291). A Hart Trophy finalist in 2013-14, Giroux was a member of the 2010 Flyers team that made it to the Stanley Cup finals. In that extra time, Giroux had 21 points and 23 games.

Before Thursday (which was played at home), Giroux was honored with a ceremony by the Flyers. All Philadelphia players carried the number 28 in the warmups and Clarke was on ice to help with the fire.
