ROCHESTER, NY – RIT freshman for Carter Wilkie was named the 2021-22 Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Year, announced Thursday. Wilkie is the fourth tiger to receive the award.
Wilkie quickly established himself as one of the top first-year players of Atlantic Hockey, winning five of the first seven Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week honors of the season, as well as Rookie of the Month recognition for October and November.

He shot the crucial Tally 30 seconds into overtime in a 3-2 thrill of the current No. 9 Notre Dame on October 21, and also shot the winner of the game for RIT’s 3-2 overtime victory at AIC ( November 7) they seal.
Wilkie shot crucial tally with 10.6 left in the lineup to defeat host Niagara, 4-2 (February 18) and recently won his seventh AHA rookie of the week honor after winning overtime for the Tigers 3-2 they sealed wins on Air Force (February 25).
Also named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Rookie Team, Wilkie entered the postseason, tied for ninth among the nation’s freshmen at goal and tied for fourth in goals.
RIT is scheduled to fight Air Force in the Atlantic Hockey Tournament semifinals this Friday (March 18) at 7:35 pm at the Adirondack Bank Center in Utica, NY. with a spot in the NCAA Tournament on the line.
