Sims, grandson of former Englishman Tom Price, was born in Gloucester in 1969 and attended Churchdown School. <\/p>\n<p>He started his rugby career at Longlevens RFC before making his debut for Gloucester in 1988. He represented England at the Under 21 level in 1990, before winning three senior caps on the 1998 tour of Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. <\/p>\n<p><b>READ Next:<\/b>Maternity units closed in Gloucestershire as NHS employee reveals &#8216;concerns and danger&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He also played three times for The Barbarians &#8211; 1995, 1996 and 1999. Rugby fans and friends of Sims took to social media to respect his life and playing career.<\/p>\n<p>Barry Preece tweeted: &#8220;I just heard the very sad news that Dave Sims has died. Such sad news. Grew up with Dave from the baby in junior high school. Great athlete from our junior football and of course his fantastic years of rugby. Broadcast Best wishes and love to his family, friends.RIP Dave.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Parrett wrote: &#8220;RIP Dave Sims. A top person in every respect. Best wishes to his family and many, many friends.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ian Taylor recalled: &#8220;Dave Sims story &#8211; my sister bought his house from him in Longford. On the day of the move, I arrived to help her approach and, obviously threatened by my physical dexterity, Simsy gave the entire Glaws First Team squad to him. Suffice it to say that it did not take long.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Glaws Legend.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Stanley said: &#8220;Terrible news of the loss of former @gloucesterrugby captain Dave Sims, who is crossing the amateur and professional era. He knew exactly what the club meant to the city and its fans. A good friend and character I and many more will miss.
