\tWill Butler of the Montreal rock band Arcade Fire says he left the band.<\/p>\n

\tButler says in a series of tweets that he left at the end of last year when the groups finished their new album, “We”, which was released on May 6th.<\/p>\n

\tButler says there was “no acute reason” for his departure beyond “I’ve changed – and the band has changed – in the last almost 20 years.”<\/p>\n

\tHe adds that it’s time for new things, and that the band “are still my friends and family.”<\/p>\n

\tArcade Fire was co-founded by Butler’s older brother and frontman, Win, two decades ago, and has received several awards for his albums, including the 2011 Grammy for Album of the Year.<\/p>\n

\tWill Butler says in his tweets that he is working on a new record, booking shows for this summer, and working on music for a David Adjmi game, as well as other projects.<\/p>\n
