{"id":11577,"date":"2022-03-20T12:33:21","date_gmt":"2022-03-20T12:33:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tahrir2day.com\/news\/2022\/03\/20\/nr\/"},"modified":"2022-03-20T12:33:21","modified_gmt":"2022-03-20T12:33:21","slug":"nr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tahrir2day.com\/news\/2022\/03\/20\/nr\/","title":{"rendered":"Nr."},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>INDIANAPOLIS &#8211; Saint Peter coach Shaheen Holloway said from the start that he did not bring his team to Indianapolis for the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament to just show up and lose.<\/p>\n<p>Holloway was right.<\/p>\n<p>The Peacocks went to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history after beating Murray State 70-60 on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.  The Peacocks play the winner of Sunday&#8217;s match between Texas and Purdue.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m just proud that these guys can play on a different stage,&#8221; Holloway said.  &#8220;NCAA tournament is the dream of every kid. Playing in MAAC is a great tournament &#8211; I mean a great league. We play on ESPN +. We don&#8217;t get a lot of great TV players. So these guys get a chance to show their talent on the big stage, I&#8217;m proud of that. These guys have been working so hard for that moment. I&#8217;m just proud of them. &#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Saint Peter&#8217;s, with an enrollment of about 2,300 students, is so far the Feelgood team of the tournament.  The Peacocks shocked No. 2 Kentucky in the first round and then led from start to finish to beat Murray State, who came in Saturday with just two losses in the season.<\/p>\n<aside >\n<p>2 Coherence<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n<p>The Peacocks, who have the longest active winning streak in Division I in nine games, team up with Florida Gulf Coast (2013) and Oral Roberts (2021) as the only number 15 seed to reach the Sweet 16 because of the field was expanded to 64 teams.  in 1985.<\/p>\n<p>Saint Peter will not be traveling far for her Sweet 16 game because Jersey City, New Jersey, where the school is located, is only about 90 miles from Philadelphia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As far as the Sweet 16, again, it&#8217;s another quick turnaround,&#8221; said Peacocks guard Doug Edert.  &#8220;And we are not going to go too high. What we have done is amazing, but it is already in the past, and we have to keep going and prepare for the next team.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In just four seasons, Holloway has taken the Peacocks as far as they have ever been in the tournament.  Part of the reason is because his players took over the mind of their head coach.  Holloway was a disturbed player who did not retire from anyone during his four-year career at Seton Hall.  He even beat Kobe Bryant to win the MVP of McDonald&#8217;s All-American Game in 1996.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s how I played, right? I played that way,&#8221; Holloway said.  &#8220;I played to give it 110% all the time. I tell my guys all the time, you give me 100%, I give you 200%. I was a decent player. I&#8217;m small. People told me .So I had to prove something every time.So I trained like that &#8230; My thing is this: It&#8217;s a matter of give-and-take. If you give me hard work in defense, I&#8217;ll let you play offensive That&#8217;s us.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Give me what I want on defense, offense, offense, you can go out there. You&#8217;re not coming out of the game to play for me to make mistakes on offense. You&#8217;re coming out of the game to make mistakes in defense. That&#8217;s it. just the way it is. &#8220;<\/p>\n<p>The Peacocks blocked seven shots and kept Murray State at 34.6% shooting and 19 points below their season average in points.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ll say that. It&#8217;s going to get a little crazy. I have guys from New Jersey and New York City,&#8221; Holloway said.  &#8220;You think we&#8217;re scared of something?
