The Borussia Dortmund striker, who has scored 16 Bundesliga goals at a rate of just 75.31 minutes per goal this campaign, is linked with a close season for many of Europe’s biggest clubs.<\/p>\n

Barcelona has been announced as a possible destination for the 21-year-old, but club president Joan Laporta recently suggested that such a transfer could be over the Catalan giants, saying he would not “make deals that endanger the institution”.<\/p>\n

Former Blaugrana striker Laudrup, who scored 40 league goals during a five-year spell at Camp Nou between 1989 and 1994, has checked whether Haaland’s attributes match the patient passage favored by head coach Barca legend Xavi.<\/p>\n

“I have doubts about him [Xavi] needs a striker like him, “Laudrup told Catalan radio station RAC1.<\/p>\n

“I do not argue with Haaland as a goal scorer. He is incredible. He keeps going and scoring and it is no coincidence. The only thing is that he is a very physical player who needs a bit of space. <\/p>\n

“He’s not the ideal player [for Barcelona], He does not participate with the ball in combinations in tight spaces. He has to play in a team that plays and then he gets balls. <\/p>\n

“He will always score goals in every team, but I have doubts about how he plays compared to how he plays with Bar\u00e7a.”<\/p>\n

Before their big Clasico clash with Real Madrid on Sunday, Barcelona have taken 34 points from 15 games in the LaLiga since Xavi took over as coach, a record that was only improved by Madrid, who took 39 points in that period.<\/p>\n

Barcelona had disappeared in ninth place in the LaLiga when Xavi’s predecessor Ronald Koeman left, but Laudrup, who won the 1992 European Cup alongside Koeman as part of Johan Cruyff’s legendary Blaugrana side, says his former team-mate is not the same Support got the club their hierarchy as Xavi did.<\/p>\n
