Will Smith is hot tipped to become only the fifth black man to take home the best actor Oscar on Sunday, March 27th.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
If he wins for King Richard<\/i>, in which he plays Richard Williams – the heartbreakingly ambitious and eccentric father of tennis champs Serena and Venus Williams – he will go into the fun of Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx and Forest Whitaker. He has collected every other major gong this awards season, including the SAG, BAFTA and NAACP image awards.<\/p>\n
But the 53-year-old star continues to make headlines over his “open” marriage to Jada Pinkett Smith, his 25-year-old wife.<\/p>\n

Last Sunday, as he missed out on BAFTAs to stay in Los Angeles for the Critics Choice Awards, host Rebel Wilson said his “best performance of the past year was OK with all of his wife’s girlfriends.”<\/p>\n
But as one industry source said The Post<\/i>: \u201cLook at all the A-list couples on the red carpet – who knows what’s going on with them. At least with Jada and Will, there is no progress.<\/p>\n
“Their love is deeply rooted and it goes to the core and neither goes anywhere,” a Smith family source said. “But just because this love is present does not mean that every need is necessarily met in marriage. An external experience is sometimes desirable or, one might say, necessary.<\/p>\n
An insider who knows the couple said The Post<\/i> that it would be too simplistic to say that the couple had an open marriage, explains that they went through therapy and came out on the other side.<\/p>\n
“It’s not true to say they were never monogamous to begin with – this is the evolution of a marriage.”<\/p>\n

Then, in September 2021, Will said GQ<\/i> that their relationship over monogamy has evolved and that the two have become “mutual trust and freedom” in their union, since marriage “can not be a prison”. <\/p>\n
He added: “Jada never believed in conventional marriage.”<\/p>\n
Writer Wesley Lowery, who will interview for GQ<\/i>said: “A spectator might have gone on to think that Jada was the only one who engaged in other sexual relations, if that was not the case, Smith explained to me delicately, in fact the case.”<\/p>\n
According to family sources, the couple, who have son Jaden, 23, and daughter Willow, 21, together, are in a better place now than they were during Jada’s “entanglement”.<\/p>\n
“Things were discussed between the two and at the end of the day they take care of each other. Even before love, there is a solid friendship, a strong foundation,” said the family source. “They could just get a divorce, but for what? What would that prove? At least they’re honest with each other, which is something a lot of married couples can’t say. People cheat all day long, especially married couples. Every marriage works differently – you only know their business because they are public figures.<\/p>\n
Another source said The Post<\/i> that Will and Jada “want to be sexual.”<\/p>\n
Smiths’ reps declined to comment for this story.<\/p>\n
The family source said The Post<\/i> that Will and Jada refuse to talk about their “open” marriage over the actor’s Oscar pursuit.<\/p>\n
At the SAG Awards last month, E! Red carpet host Laverne Cox said to the couple: “Thank you for all the years of joy you have brought us. We can not wait for more Red Table Discussion<\/i> and more “Entanglements”.<\/p>\n
“Not more of those,” Jada said more than once as Smith, next to her, forced a grin.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, it is believed that he has a solid shot to win. <\/p>\n

“There was a certain amount of brutality that Richard Williams and my father suffered, which created a certain hardness and endurance,” said Will Kotb.<\/p>\n
“What was really difficult for me was my dad being my hero,” he added to Smith Sr., who died in 2016. It’s like, how do you like someone who did that?<\/p>\n
The actor revealed in his memoir that after being temporarily separated in 2011, he visited a tantric sex expert and used hallucinogenic drug ayahuasca “14 times” to heal his broken heart.<\/p>\n
“They went through therapy, and that’s where their relationship ended,” the insider said. “They love each other very much.”<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, the family source does not understand why Alsina or anyone else involved with the Smiths publicly exposed what, apparently, was a relatively good setup.<\/p>\n
“Let a young man open his mouth and resolve the whole situation,” said the family source. “Trust and believe, there are others who can speak – but why confuse a good thing, especially if it works to your advantage?”<\/p>\n
