The midweek round at Bristol Rovers was in all honesty much better than I feared it would be.\n<\/p>\n
In a match against a team in a purple patch and with our patchy in the best away form, it had to be forgotten every day.\n<\/p>\n
But even though we lost and did not bring any points back to Essex, that did not tell the whole story.\n<\/p>\n
I felt we played well, with chances from the line of defense of the men.\n<\/p>\n
Another day with a bit of luck on our side we would have come home with a hard fought and deserved point.\n<\/p>\n
But as we all know in football, it’s not how you play, but the points you collect.\n<\/p>\n
With teams around us not being able to take advantage of our lack of games at the weekend, it was not a bad week and the relegation pressure always went up so easily.\n<\/p>\n
That said, there are still games to be won, but at least we are slowly gaining control of our own destiny and are not totally dependent on other outcomes.\n<\/p>\n
I know in this league that it can change in a heartbeat, but it’s better to be the masters of our own destiny, whatever it may be.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
To get ahead, we have the very rare spectacle of the Sky Sports cameras coming to town tonight when we play League Two Leader Forest Green.\n<\/p>\n
I’m under no illusions that in the Forest Green schedule good promotion could be won with a win here, but since the results have since gone away, that’s not the case.\n<\/p>\n
However, with the events in Ukraine that caught everyone’s attention, it was a masterpiece by Robbie Cowling to count this as ‘A Game For Ukraine’.\n<\/p>\n
This is not a publicity stunt or for any financial game for the club, rather an opportunity that our president took to use the game as a way to raise the difficulty and his money where the mouth is.\n<\/p>\n
Instead of just saying the right things and editing the profile photos on social media on the club’s channels, he did something that really helps those who need it.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
No matter what you think of the man and how he runs the club, I personally hope that all of this is put aside and everyone supports the idea.\n<\/p>\n
What could be better? Monday night football under the lights, a packed stadium and a U-Victory live on TV.\n<\/p>\n
Ok this can be wishful thinking about winning but why not dream? We play better against better teams, plus Forest Green’s form is a bit hit, so why can we not beat them?\n<\/p>\n
Whatever happens, it has the majority of a good night, all for one thing and I’m sure it will hit with many of you.\n<\/p>\n
Hopefully you see everyone there to make it a great atmosphere and all is well, more points in our battle for league survival. Up the U.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
