“When Private Relay is enabled, your requests are sent through two separate, secure Internet relays.”<\/p>\n

When Private Relay is enabled, users’ IP addresses are visible to their network provider in the first relay operated by Apple.<\/p>\n

Another feature of this privacy setting is that DNS records are encrypted so that no party can see the address of the website they are trying to visit.<\/p>\n

How to enable Private Relay on iPhone?<\/h2>\n

iPhone users can manually enable iCloud Private Relay in their settings.<\/p>\n

Apple lists instructions on how to enable privacy on your phone via their support page:<\/p>\n

  • On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, go to Settings> [your name] > iCloud> Private Relay. <\/li>\n
  • On your Mac, choose Apple Menu \uf8ff> System Preferences, then click Apple ID. Choose iCloud> Private Relay. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Users can also tap on IP Address Location to select a setting for their IP address.<\/p>\n

      According to Apple, privacy does not always work depending on several factors.<\/p>\n

      On its website, Apple states: “Some websites, networks or services may need to update private relays, including networks that require the ability to control traffic or implement network-based filters – such as business or educational networks – or services that rely on your browsing Activity to see, such as parental controls or some “zero-rated” services that do not count against your data usage. “<\/p>\n

      In addition, private relays are not available in every country or region.<\/p>\n

      When a user travels to a region where Private Relay is not supported, it automatically shuts off and is turned on again when they re-enter a country or region that supports it.<\/p>\n
