Alpine uses a Dacia Duster body for its GT X-Over Mulle.<\/h2>\n

Alpine’s first SUV – the all-electric GT X-Over – broke the cover in heavily disguised mule form while testing in snowy conditions. As these new spy shots show, the newcomer’s trailer and heavily modified Dacia Duster body are covered, but look good and there are some prominent features that are important gifts.<\/p>\n

Large 19-inch wheels taken from Renault’s former Megane Trophy cover huge Brembo brakes at the front, balancing Alpine power. The ride height of the test car shows us the deeper shoulders that may have been added to accommodate the battery, which is housed in an underfloor skateboard layout.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Massive flared arches have an extended stretch and there are also large skid plates at the front and rear. Instead of the Duster’s usual five-door hatchback, there’s a huge rear clamshell design.<\/p>\n

The finished GT X-Over will look very different from the car in our pictures, but there is a hint as to what phase of development Alpine’s SUV is.<\/p>\n

Alpine has already delivered a teaser image of the GT X-Over, which reveals a sloping roofline and classic alpine pieces, as well as a striking quad-headlight arrangement.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Alpine chief engineer Gilles le Borgne told Automotive Daily last year that the GT X-Over may have a triple-engine configuration to deliver more agile handling. “For the CMF-EV platform, we’ll keep the 215bhp (160kW) e-engine going,” he said, “and in the rear we’ll have a big surprise. We want to do torque vectoring, have really amazing handling and performance – as you can imagine for an alpine. We are working on it. “<\/p>\n

With 160kW front engine coupled with a pair of rear drive units, we expect a total power output of around 330kW – making it a competitor to the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and Tesla Model Y.<\/p>\n

As part of the company ‘Dream Garage’ EV line-up, Alpine will also launch a new A110 coupe, developed with Lotus, a hot hatch version of the new all-electric Renault 5 and GT GT-Over. All three models will arrive by 2026.<\/p>\n

Alpine claims that the GT X-Over will show “the excellence in sports cars” for which the brand is known, while using components from the parent company Renault. Production of the GT X-Over will begin in 2025 at the company Dieppe Planz (where it already produces the A110 sports car), which will be adapted to produce the Renault CMF-EV platform that underlines the SUV.<\/p>\n
