The BBC has confirmed that Sean Bean and Stephen Graham are involved in the prison drama Time<\/em> is back for a second series – but there’s a big twist.<\/p>\n

Even though the series will be back, it has been revealed that neither main actor will return to the show for his new episodes, with the BBC announcing that the next second series “will welcome a new cast and put them in a very female prison.”<\/p>\n

One person who will return to the show, however, is writer Jimmy McGovern. McGovern has previously written dramas among them Anthony<\/em> in the Care<\/em>and will write three new one-hour episodes of Time<\/em> for his second series.<\/p>\n

The commission was announced by BBC Chief Content Officer Charlotte Moore, who said: \u201cThe BBC is creative and brand and the return of four of our biggest dramas in the last year shows the large scale and range of storytelling the BBC. “<\/p>\n

Plot details for season two of Time<\/em> have not yet been revealed, beyond the women’s prison setting, while we also do not yet have an air date or any casting details.<\/p>\n

Season one of Time<\/em> food played Game of Thrones<\/em> in the Lord of the Rings<\/em> Actor Bean as former schoolteacher and first-time perpetrator Mark Cobden, whose horrible mistake landed him in jail.<\/p>\n

It soon becomes clear that Mark is not cut out for prison life and he is forced to try to find a way to survive in a dog-eat-dog world.<\/p>\n

Line of duty<\/em> in the Peaky Blinders<\/em> Actor Graham has taken on the role of prison officer Eric McNally, who always tries his best to protect the prisoners over whom he is in charge. But when a dangerous prisoner identifies his greatest weakness, Eric is faced with an impossible dilemma.<\/p>\n

After the season 1 finale, viewers were full of praise for the gruesome drama and called for a second run after calling the show “very magnificent” and “deep impact”.<\/p>\n

Time<\/em> Season 1 airs on BBC One and is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n
