Dave Nevison revealed his best bet for the race action at Ffos Las, Haydock and Ludlow on Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

1.55 Ffos Las: Seventeen O Four<\/strong><\/p>\n

This five-year-old will hopefully outclass these low-school performers, despite a carry-on weight, as drop-in class is probably my favorite betting angle, and Seventeen O Four looks a good candidate. <\/p>\n

He has run well in two handicaps at a higher level on his last two starts and has finished a credible second on every occasion. He found a strongly supported competitor too well on the first of those outings and was not matched for a big improvement last time.<\/p>\n

Anyway, he seems to be hitting a moderate, exposed type on Wednesday, now that he’s significantly down in the ranks. Fergus Gillard, who claims a practical 3lb, keeps the ride going, and I hope seventeen O fours can be the first leg of a family double, with his brother riding my choice on Haydock. <\/p>\n

2.45 Haydock: Tim Pat<\/strong><\/p>\n

This marathon hunt attracted a field of candidates who were largely disappointing, and this looks like a good opportunity to build on Tim Pat’s highly satisfying debut in recent times. <\/p>\n

Donald McCain’s six-year-old son has shown himself to be a progressive hurdle over long-distance travel before switching to feathers last month. He won in good style at Bangor on his ninth final start, but had run some good races over three kilometers before. <\/p>\n

He dropped to 2m4f on his pursuit debut in February and jumped well and did his best work late when he climbed Carlisle Hill. <\/p>\n

He will fit better over a mile further here and I expect him to become a force in the marathon handicap in time.<\/p>\n

5.10 Ludlow: View From Clover<\/strong><\/p>\n

He ran his best race under this jockey on his previous start when he finished second to my former pick, Tim Pat. This effort was over a journey just short of three miles, and he is back on journey here after possibly finding an extended distance on difficult terrain too many last time. <\/p>\n

He has meanwhile undergone a wall operation, which will hopefully bring a consistency to his running. Coach Alistair Ralph is in very good shape and the seven year old is definitely handicapped well enough to break his virginity here. <\/p>\n
