Several batches of Kinder Surprise eggs are being recalled because they may be contaminated with salmonella, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) said.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It follows a series of cases of foodborne illness in young children, the FSA said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It advised against eating Kinder Surprise 20g eggs or the three-pack of best-by date eggs between July 11 and October 7, 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The chocolate manufacturer Ferrero is voluntarily recalling the products as a precaution.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The eggs affected by the recall were all made at the same factory in Belgium. Other products made by children are not affected, the FSA said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The agency said in a warning that investigations by public health officials “have found a link between reported cases of salmonella poisoning across the UK and a specific Ferrero product”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“We know that these particular products are popular with young children, especially as Easter approaches, so we urge parents and guardians to check if any products already in their homes are affected by this recall,” said Tina Potter, head of incidents at the FSA.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

She said the FSA is working closely with Ferrero and security agencies to determine the exact cause of the outbreak.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

dr Lesley Larkin, of Britain’s Heath Security Agency, said symptoms of salmonellosis, which can include diarrhoea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting and fever, “usually go away within a few days”. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

She said symptoms could be more severe, particularly in young children and those with compromised immune systems, and anyone with concerns should contact their GP or call NHS 111.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Salmonella can be transmitted from person to person, so Dr. Larkin urges anyone with symptoms to wash their hands thoroughly and avoid handling other people’s food. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
