Police have appealed for witnesses after a boy who was struck by a lorry died in hospital.<\/b><\/p>\n

The collision happened in Epping Road, Chipping Ongar, Essex, at about 16:40 BST on Friday.<\/p>\n

Officers arrested the lorry’s 48-year-old driver, from Derbyshire, at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.<\/p>\n

He was released on bail until September while an investigation continued.<\/p>\n

“The child sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital where, sadly, he died,” a police spokesman said.<\/p>\n

Specialist officers have been supporting the family of the child, whose age has not been revealed.<\/p>\n

Epping Road, which connects Chipping Ongar with North Weald Bassett, was closed after the incident.<\/p>\n

Detectives “continue to appeal for witnesses and anyone driving in the vicinity at the time who may have captured footage on dash cam to contact them”, the spokesman added.<\/p>\n
