Italian luxury brand Gucci will start accepting cryptocurrency payments in some of its stores in America.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Customers can pay with a range of cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The service will roll out later this month at some of its flagship locations, including Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles and Wooster Street in New York.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Gucci, owned by French company Kering, joins a growing number of companies that have started accepting virtual currencies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The firm said it will also accept payments in Shiba Inu and Dogecoin – a so-called “meme” cryptocurrency originally created as a hoax.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Customers paying in stores with cryptocurrencies will receive an email with a QR code for use with a digital asset wallet – a financial transaction app that runs on mobile devices.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    QR or Quick Response codes are the black and white barcode-like squares that can be read by cellphones and have become more common since the pandemic began.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    \n

    The brand plans to roll out the policy to all North American stores it operates directly in the near future. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    \n

    The announcement of such a high-profile brand marks another step forward for mainstream enterprise adoption of cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Gucci is the latest big name to announce that it will accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Some of the world’s biggest brands are now accepting digital currencies, including tech giant Microsoft, US telco AT&T, and coffee chain Starbucks.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    In the last year, bitcoin also became legal tender in two countries \u2013 El Salvador and the Central African Republic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
