Twitter is finally giving its users the new feature they’ve been asking for most – an edit button.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“If you see an edited tweet, it’s because we’re testing the edit button. This is happening and you will be fine,” the company tweeted.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The feature is currently being tested and will roll out in the coming weeks to subscribers to Twitter Blue, which costs $4.99 (\u00a34.33) a month.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Tweets may be edited a few times within 30 minutes of posting.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Twitter Blue is currently available in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand – however initial testing will be limited to just one country.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Edited tweets are shown with an icon, a timestamp, and a link to their “edit history” to “protect the integrity of the conversation and create a publicly available record of what was said.” The company blogged<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“Tweeting will feel more accessible and less stressful,” Twitter said. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“You should be able to join the conversation in a way that makes sense to you, and we’ll continue to work on making it feel effortless to do just that.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The company’s co-founder and former chief executive had said there would likely never be an edit button.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But in April, Elon Musk, who was then planning to buy the company, released a Twitter poll in which 73.6% of the 4.4 million respondents said they wanted one.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

However, some consider it unnecessary or contradict the spirit of the platform.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Other users suggested possible refinements to the feature.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
