Made.com customers have been told to file a claim to get their money back unless a pending order arrives by November 25.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

PwC admins say nearly 4,500 orders are already with hauliers across the UK and Europe.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But “a large proportion of customer orders” are not executed because they are still being produced in Asia or are not yet ready for dispatch.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The furniture retailer collapsed into administration last week.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

High street giant Next said it would buy the Made.com brand name and intellectual property for \u00a33.4million but none of the remaining shares.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The collapse of a pandemic superstar has resulted in the loss of hundreds of jobs, as well as complaints from customers who have felt “in the dark” about the refund process.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Katy Meehan, 33, from Leeds is concerned she won’t get an order for an \u00a3875 bed she placed in April.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“I’ve had quite a few pieces of Made.com furniture over the years,” she told BBC News – everything from a TV stand and curtains to smaller items like flower pots.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She describes the lead times as typically quite long, but says she was willing to compromise and wait for the bed, which was due to be delivered in September. “I’ve always been happy with the quality of things,” she says.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But without updating her order after the company’s collapse, she adds, “I have no idea if my bed was made.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Instead, she received a “so difficult to understand” email from PwC, directing her to an equally “unclear” online notice. She’s now wondering what options she had after making the purchase with a debit card.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

PWC says there can be no updates on specific orders. However, orders from UK and European customers who are currently with delivery companies are expected to be delivered by 25 November 2022. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Approximately 12,000 orders that have been paid for but not yet shipped will not be refunded or shipped by Made.com.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

If an order doesn’t arrive, it’s best to file a section 75 request with your bank if you paid by credit card, or file a chargeback request if you paid with debit card, to try to get your money back \u2013 although this is not guaranteed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

You can also make a claim to the Administrator in writing, explaining what you are owed and for what, for example if you have a gift card or voucher that you cannot use.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The company also does not accept returns or offer exchanges.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A spokesman for PWC said all customers who may have an unfulfilled order should have received an email with details on how to file a claim. Further details for customers can also be found online here.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“We are aware of the uncertainty and frustration that some customers will experience in relation to their orders,” the spokesperson added, but they also said the collapse meant the company cannot operate as usual. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The retailer, which sources furniture directly from designers and manufacturers, has gained a loyal following of mostly younger customers. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Last year it was valued at \u00a3775m after going public on the London Stock Exchange.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

More recently, however, the company has encountered problems as households have restricted large purchases and global supply chain issues have left customers waiting months for deliveries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

At the time of the collapse, Made chief executive Nicola Thompson apologized to everyone affected by the company’s bankruptcy, adding that the firm had “fought tooth and nail” to avoid that outcome.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
