The Northern Ireland Protocol was discussed at a meeting between Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) Micheal Martin and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in London.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Both leaders met before attending the England-Ireland rugby match at Twickenham on Saturday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

They also spoke about the situation in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Mr Martin holds a number of engagements in London in the run-up to St Patrick’s Day.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The Taoiseach will lead the city’s parade on Sunday to celebrate the event, which will pay tribute to the role of the Irish in London during the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

During the meeting, Mr Martin and Mr Johnson discussed ways of working together to ensure the return of the Northern Ireland executive after May’s general election.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson said it would be difficult for his party to form a government unless issues surrounding the protocol were addressed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
