Oil and gas giant Shell has reported a stronger-than-expected profit of $9.6 billion (\u00a37.6 billion) for the first three months of the year.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The figure was higher than the same period last year, despite a drop in energy prices.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Fossil fuel companies have made record profits on the back of the surge in oil and gas prices following last year’s Russian attack on Ukraine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Since then, however, they have fallen from post-invasion peaks.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Shell CEO Wael Sawan said the company had delivered “strong results and robust operational performance against a backdrop of continued volatility”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
