Supermarket chain Sainsbury’s has reduced the price of some of its butter and bread. <\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The supermarket is reducing its own branded salted butter from \u00a32.09 to \u00a31.89 for 250g packets from Tuesday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Wholesale food prices have fallen around the world, but these price falls are only just beginning to be reflected in stores.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Inflation was expected to fall below 10% last month, but rising food prices meant it fell less than expected.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Sainsbury’s said it was able to cut some of its bread and butter prices as wholesale prices began to fall.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“Whenever we pay less for the products we buy from our suppliers, we pass those savings on to customers,” said the UK’s second largest supermarket chain.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It is also cutting the price of its own-brand bread from 85p to 75p.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Food price inflation in March was at its highest level in 45 years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The war in Ukraine has pushed up food prices around the world, but the UK is also grappling with its own problems, from Brexit bureaucracy to labor shortages.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

However, as commodity prices started to fall, supermarkets have started to reduce the prices of some products but not others.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Some of the earliest price declines have been in milk, with Aldi, Lidl and Asda recently following Sainsbury’s and Tesco in reducing the price of milk by at least 5p.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
