The 2022 NCAA Women’s Division I Swimming and Diving Championships continue with the 50 freestyle preliminaries from the McAuley Aquatic Center at Georgia Tech.<\/p>\n

Kate Douglass<\/strong> broke the NCAA and American record in 20.87 to earn the Top Seed in 50 freestyle.<\/p>\n

The previous record was 20.90 by Cal’s Abbey wide line<\/strong> in 2019.<\/p>\n

Douglass was at the NCAA Championships as soon as 9 p.m. She spent that time at the ACC Championships in the same pool.<\/p>\n

Virginia has the top two seeds with Douglass in it Gretchen Walsch<\/strong>who finished on 21.09 and was ready to make a run at her teammate.<\/p>\n

Douglass was out with 10.04, by far the fastest and back to 10.83, also the fastest top.<\/p>\n

of Alabama Cora Dupree<\/strong> had the third seed 21.47, while Michigan the Maggie Mac Neil<\/strong> in North Carolina Senior Grace County<\/strong> 21.53 bound for the fourth seed.<\/p>\n

NC State has the next two final spots with Katharine Berkoff<\/strong> take the sixth seed in 21.56 Kylee Alons<\/strong> at 21.62 in seventh place.<\/p>\n

Alabama Senior Morgan Scott<\/strong> took the eighth seed in 21.72, giving Crimson Tide two finalists in the event.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
