The Washington State Cougars will play SMU in the second round of the NIT after the Mustangs sent the Nicholls State Colonels home 68-58 Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

The 1-Seed Mustangs – also the top overall seed in the NIT bracket – ran out on an early lead against the Colonels, then regained most of that lead, and then pulled away at the last minute for a double-digit final margin. they post. Even though the winning probability never fell below 89% (according to kenpom.com), it proves the inconvenience that SMU experienced in the second half, especially when Nicholls was pulled in two with three minutes left. The Cougars will absolutely have their hands full, but it’s also a whole contest. Kenpom.com predicts the Mustangs will win about 60% of the time with a 72-69 margin. While 60% might seem like a lot, statistically, that’s little more than a coin flip. It should be fun!<\/p>\n
