Harris and Emhoff skipped a pay equity event at the White House on Tuesday afternoon because of a positive diagnosis. Emhoff held an outdoor gardening event in northeast Washington, DC, Tuesday before.
“Early today, the Second Gentleman tested positive for COVID-19,” Deputy Vice President Sabrina Singh’s deputy press secretary said in a statement. “As a precaution, the Vice President will not attend tonight’s event. The vice president tested negative for COVID-19 today and will continue to test.
Harris appeared with President Biden Tuesday for a bill signing ceremony. It is unclear whether Harris will be quarantined.

Although Emhoff is not a White House employee, his diagnosis is important given his stature and interaction with other senior officials.
The White House said in the early hours of Tuesday afternoon that Mr Biden had his last test on Sunday and tested negative.
During the pay equity event, Mr. Biden said “the first lady’s husband” contracted COVID-19 and First Lady Jill Biden corrected the president.
