Ryan Pepiot Makes First Start As Dodgers Visit Mariners

After opening their 2022 Cactus League schedule with a tie against the Milwaukee Brewers, the Los Angeles Dodgers are now up against the Seattle Mariners at Peoria Stadium.

Ryan Pepiot, the Dodgers number 2 prospect, makes his debut in 2022 and has a chance to show Arsenal that he has ranked on various lists. He is followed by Michael Grove, Victor Gonzales, Yefry Ramirez and Darien Nuñez, in a row.

Pepiot posted a 3-4 record with a 2.87 ERA and 15 games (13 starts) with Double-A Tulsa last season before earning a promotion to Triple-A Oklahoma City. That proved a bit difficult as he went 2-5 with a 7.13 ERA and 1.80 WHIP in 11 appearances (nine starts) for OKC.

Pepiot has previously been mentioned as a potential contributor to the Dodgers at the Major League level as early as last season, and that is more than likely in 2022.

The Mariners’ opponent with right-hander Levi Stoudt, their No. 8 prospect per MLB pipeline. Yohan Ramirez, Patrick Weigel, Kyle Bird and Danny Young will also play against the Dodgers.

Former Dodger Steven Souza Jr. Souza’s deal was a minor league contract.

The Mariners face a Dodgers lineup that has some regularity to get the second in a row the start. Trea Turner, Cody Bellinger and Chris Taylor make second consecutive starts, while Edwin Ríos, Austin Barnes, James Outman and Jake Lamb start for the first time.
