A man was arrested after an assault at a Toronto mosque

Police arrested a 24-year-old man on Saturday morning after a report of possible Islamophobic aggression at a mosque in Toronto, Ontario.

Police officers had been called around 7am at the Islamic Center Dar Al-Tawheed regarding an aggression, Peel regional police said in a statement.

Mississauga’s mayor, Bonnie Crombie, is “shocked” by the aggression. “This unprovoked attack on a cult place is absolutely unacceptable and I strongly condemn it,” she wrote on Twitter.

I strongly condemn this violence that has not taken place in Canada, and my thoughts are on the community today. I also applaud the courage of those who were present this morning, “said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in a tweet in the afternoon.
